There is a disturbing trend currently brewing across the NWT and Nunavut. Employers are all coming to the bargaining table with concessions veiled as minor gains. Unfortunately, none of the financial increases are anywhere close to rising inflation. Additionally, employers are tabling proposals loosening restrictions around Casual and Term employment meaning they hope to fill their ranks with temporary who lack job security and in many cases the same benefits as full time employees.

Employers are also complaining at bargaining tables about how difficult they are finding the process of staffing in the current climate. Fortunately, part of the reason why is staring them in the face despite their refusal to believe it. Help us show the employers through Facebook, conversations in the grocery store and at the Christmas table that employees in the NWT and Nunavut shouldn’t be made to suffer for an inflation Crisis they didn’t create! Tell employers to stop the squeeze!
