Your bargaining team met with the employer in Iqaluit for the first time during the week of April 18 to discuss our proposals for the collective agreement that expired on December 31, 2016.

The Union and the employer exchanged bargaining proposals in a constructive, mutually respectful atmosphere. Each side took the opportunity to explain their proposals.

The discussions focussed on non-monetary issues, and though we were able to agree on a number of minor language changes, we still have a lot of work let to do to achieve a fair and reasonable collective agreement.

The bargaining teams are meeting again during the week of June 19, and we will be discussing in more detail the improvements that we are seeking on your behalf.
We will provide more updates as negotiations continue.
