The Nunavut Employees Union is made of elected Executives and hired permanent staff.

Our elected Executive includes the President, Four Vice-Presidents and Eight Regional Vice-Presidents.

Our permanent staff includes the Executive Director, Finance Officer, five Labour Relations Officers, a Communications Officer, and a Receptionist and Membership Services clerk.

The Nunavut Employees Union was formed alongside the territory of Nunavut beginning April 1, 1999. Preparations had begun two years prior and our members belonged to the Union of Northern Workers (UNW), which is also a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) at the time.

Union Locals represent workers in specific communities or workplaces. They are our point of contact in communities and provide their voices and perspectives on how the NEU can help advocate for individual workers better.

Each Union Local consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Shop Steward. Our members are elected to these positions during annual AGMs hosted by our LRAs or Executives when they travel to communities.
