On July 20th Nunavut’s Chief Public Health Officer stated that “we can now declare the (COVID-19) outbreak in the city (Iqaluit) over.”
This is great news that would not have been possible without the heroic and tireless efforts of healthcare workers and other public servants. Each and every resident of Iqaluit needs to acknowledge the invaluable role that our government employees have played in getting us to this point so quickly and efficiently. The same needs to be said of the healthcare workers in COVID impacted communicates throughout Nunavut dating back to March of last year.
Saying thank you is not nearly enough to express the gratitude that is owed, but it is a good start. So, the Nunavut Employees Union (NEU), on behalf of all our Members as well as all the residents of Iqaluit and Nunavut would like to say thank you and publicly recognize that our safety, health and brightening future is due to the incredible efforts of our public servants.
