Wednesday September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. This day and the wearing of orange bear witness to the residential school experience and symbolizes a recognition of the healing journey of survivors and their families. The NEU is asking all Members throughout Nunavut to wear orange to work on that day to show special recognition to the experiences of Inuit residential school survivors. An event of solidarity will be taking place in Iqaluit at Four Corners on the 30th at 5:00 pm EST. The theme "Every Child Matters" and the event (organized by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Nunavut Area Council) is a chance for NEU Members in Iqaluit to don orange and to show their support, compassion and care for residential school survivors.
